Cycle race

  • Anecdote
    • The circuit of Rheims-Gueux was not only one circuit dedicated to the motor race.
    • Indeed in 1928, that is to say two years after its opening was held the cycle race of the Champagne Circuit, September 16.
    • This race organized by the Scout of the east and the Civil Company of the Circuit of Gueux disputed on a loop of 8 kilometers to carry out 20 times, that is to say approximately 160 kilometers.
    • If the French Antonin Magne escaped as of the 6° turn and resisted the group during nearly 120 kilometers, it finished only second of the race exceeded in the ultimate meters by the Belgian Aimé Dossche.
    • The journalists of the time undoubtedly noted the great popular success of the test thanks to the formula circuit which made it possible the public to see several times the runners.
